Can't believe how close it is now! I've had such a crappy week I really need this break. I'm so looking forward to matching up names and faces. It's such a shame that Barbara won't be there, but I'm looking forward to meeting you in November. Love to all, Alison xxx

I've decided to count in terms of how many hours work I've got left.
Once work ends, then all the bits before getting to Leicester will feel like holiday too.
    So, 6 hours!!

  5. Honest to God - look at you all - calm down dears - can you see me getting all excited?, - er well, actually I confess I did ring Christine Berrett last night. We had a lovely chat and she then said 'anyway,..what did you want' 'nothing' I says 'just wanted to chat about the weekend because it's getting near and I'm getting excited'.

So, no hope for any of us - we are all simply fizzing until we get our 'fix'. Is Jane ready for this?

    See you all tomorrow.

LOL Brenda - your phone call was the start of the weekend for me! Have packed all the essentials (ie. stitching) already and will do the non-essential stuff (eg. clothes and toiletries) tomorrow morning.

Counting down the hours - still one sleep to go..........

  12. Hi Everyone

Wasn't it a great weekend and what a great project. I'm really enjoying stitching it. Thank you all for your wonderful company, and thanks also to Jane for organising it. It is so good to be able to get together and have a good laugh, which I think you must all agree that we did.We now have to start counting off the sleeps to Scotland. How many did you say it was Christine 102. Well I don't want to wish my life away, but I do hope that it comes soon.

    Bye for now Sally

Well after the awful week I had at work last week, and the horrible day today, I really needed to know how many sleeps it is until Glasgow. Glad you all had such a fantastic time, sorry I couldn't be with you. I spent all weekend being a grouch! So now I'm looking forward to Scotland, and if she doesn't give me the time off, I'll be there regardless, and she can stuff the job where the sun doesn't shine!! I've now decided that they need me, more than I need them, so I intend to give them 16hours per week, and not a minute more!! Am I getting Bolshie, or what? I promise to be nice in Scotland.

  15. Can't believe Leicester is over. I had such a lovely time. I feel we really have become one big happy family of friendship. Such a joy.

After the bulk of you had gone home we were allowed to use the conference room until 6.00 p.m. so we continued to sit stitching and chatting. We had agreed to have a really good lunch and then bag a plate of cheese and biscuits for a nibble over tea-time. Some went out and got some sandwiches from good old Marks and Sparks, so we knew we were not going to starve. At 6.00 we packed up and went to our rooms to eat our nibbles agreeing to meet at 7.00 p.m. in the bar and continue with the stitching. Well, we got there and got ourselves comfortable when a chap came across and asked us if we were going in to dinner. "No", we said "it's not free". "I think it is" he replied. Seven gobsmacked faces stared back at him (there were actually 10 of us in total but 3 were still in their rooms sleeping off lunch)! Confirmation reached us, 'yes' we were expected for a (free) dinner. Three hasty phone calls brought the others from their room, and - all giggling as you might guess - we made our way into the dining room. Someone muttered something about having some Rennies in her bag if we needed them afterwards. Grim determination got us through the meal, with Andrea Thompson winning the perseverance award as she managed to get through dessert as well! Added to this people kept falling sideways into their handbags and getting back up again holding illicit grog; so we had a jolly merry time as you can imagine.

Oh yes, such a lovely weekend. I bought a lovely piece of Jane's fabric - (not sure what I'm going to do with it yet) and a darling little pair of scissors from Carol. The handles were pale turquoise with little white spots on. The label on them said £4.25 on one side and 'straight scissors' on the other - that had me wondering if one could also buy gay scissors as well then? Dunno.

I've been at the RSPCA this morning and as I was cleaning out Benji's pen I was telling him all about it. He's not quite a kitten but not quite a cat so is at the stage of having needlesharp teeth. He seemed to think it was fun to keep leaping on my bare arm and biting as I was wiping out the floor of his pen. His card says he's 'Benji' but he now thinks his name's been changed to 'Gedoffyoulittlesod'

Did anybody get any hint about the date for the next holiday when you lot were at Leicester. I've got to book my leave at work for it, and if I don't get it booked soon, then I might not be able to go. (In which case, I think I'd give them the elbow. Nothing, but nothing is going to stop me going on holiday with you lot) So, any hint would be very helpful. Incidentally Brenda, of course you can get gay scissors. Stands to reason, that if you can get straight ones, you must be able to get gay ones as well.

No, sorry, as far as I am aware the only other holiday date is Scotland in November (101 sleeps to go btw).

If anyone has a better idea of potential future dates then please let us know!

    Oh the damage...
This morning was my weigh in and I've gained 3 lbs on last week!
Another good weekend. Leicester do do very nice food. :-)

After leaving Leicester on the Monday I popped over to say hello to my parents in Coventry and we ended up going out for a pub lunch! I really don't know where I put all that food?

I bought some lovely teal green linen and some natural beige coloured linen along with lots of the fabulous Oliver Twist threads. I also came away with knitting and crochet patterns from the 1960's from Helen's aunt-in-law. Isn't it strange how fashions come back round again. The necklines from the 1960's stuff are very like those I've been seeing in the shops the last few months. My mum commented about how you just can't get the same sort of knitting patterns these days as you could then. So she was particularly interested in those especially since she had a clear out of her old patterns many years ago thinking there was no point in hanging on to them. So thanks very much for bringing those in Helen!

Roll on the next one :-)

  19. Hi Barbara

I think Jane mentioned something about the end of April, but I didn't get the exact dates. Why not give her a ring.
