Having bought the iStitch a couple of weeks ago, it is, on the whole, quite excellent, and well worth the money.

However, I've noticed that if you want to edit a design on Aida, linen or tapestry screen, the whole design doesn't show properly. Does this happen to anyone else, or is it, as I suspect, just me?!

Sorry, don't have it yet. It's on my shopping list for Ally Pally. However, I am no expert on these things anyway. I am missing a few technical genes.
    Happy Stitching!

I am looking for new cross stitch software and came across your post, hazelxstitch.

How are you getting on with iStitch - are you still having problems? There doesn't seem to be much information anywhere about the program.

    Hi Margarita

Yes, I'm still having problems with the iStitch - same one, I'm afraid! However, the patterns always print out nicely, so I reckon that it's just me being an idiot.

I'm a bit disappointed that there's so little info out there about the program but, apart from the niggles that I've encountered, it IS very good and there are lots of motifs and sampler and card patterns to help you along which, for me, is a boon, as I can't draw for toffee!

If you do buy the program, Margarita, there's a £5 discount voucher for the CSG inside the box (or, at least there was one inside the one I bought!), so that's a nice little extra tempter!!

Hope that you find a suitable program soon.

    Hi

I've got istitch to replace my designer gold. It has more hardanger on it which I enjoy. But I'm having problems opening my old .jgg files with it and I have quite a lot. Some of which are old samplers and patterns which I've bought the files for. It must be possible so I'm obviously missing something.
Any ideas how we open the old files?

    Hi JayneL
I've also just bought istitch to replace JG gold, and so far I have not been able to find any way to persuade istitch to open or import .jgg files. I can't believe that this function would have been omitted from the new software. Would it? ...

    Hi

According to the software company you have to rename your .jgg files .pt7

Haven't tried it yet, but it will be interesting to see if it works

Just tried renaming a .jgg file as .pt7 - istitch seems to open it OK!

However (in VISTA at least) you have to get it to display the file extensions in the first place to be able to rename them :oS

Hi, bought the i stitch as a birthday present to myself from my brother, loaded it on the computer, and so far have done absolutely nothing with it. I keep on promising myself I'll do some work with it, and then something else comes up, like trips up the M4 and work and the allotment, and all I want to do is a little bit more of the project I've got going at the moment. However, I have decided, I'm definitely going to start playing with it very very soon. Might have to wait until I've been to Janes this weekend though. Actually, that's a thought, might take it with me, and ask all the questions I've got in person. Sorry Jane!!

Went to Janes on Saturday, but didn't mention the programme. However, does anybody else have the problem of getting sound on the video clips? I can get sound if I go through the media centre but if I just play the DVD, then I cannot get any sound on the computer at all. Also, how the heck do I manage to find the biscornu patterns? There are meant to be 20 on the DVD - WHERE???

Go to Functions > Motifs > Load Motif > Jane's Motifs > Biscornu

& choose the one you want.

As my geeky step-son would say "Not very intuitive"

    Hope you find them.

    Regards,

OK, so I found the biscornu - but there are only 15 of them, not 20 like it says on the box :(

Also, the back of the box says that istitch has an automatic outlining function (as there is in JG Gold) but I can't find it anywhere...

    Me neither!

And the 'Interactive Display during Move' doesn't work.

That's strange, Maggie - it seems to be working on mine? That is to say, when I move a chunk of the design I can see it within the selection box whilst I move it, which is what I would expect.

Thanks for the help - found the biscornu designs, as Christine says, only 15 of them but they do look good. Will experiment further.

I've wondered about changing to istitch. I've been using Gold for years and found it very satisfactory but it doesn't seem to 'like' vista at all and having bought a new lappy last year this has proved a bit of a nuisance. I think you've answered my one big query regarding it opening my JGG files - couldn't bear the thought of redrafting them again but if I had done the whole remaning thing when going from a previous older cross stitch software when I upgraded to gold so I'm quite happy to do that if it saves me a lot of heavy duty redrafting into a new programme.

Is it any better/worse than JG gold? I know it is more expensive so I would hope there are more features for the extra dosh. Is it really worth the extra cash? The reason I ask is that I have to choose between buying an updated version of Gold, which I've always enjoyed using, or finding a little extra money for istitch.

The 64000$ question must also be will it function well enough with an older PC running XP too.

Anybody else having problems getting sound on the video clips, or are you all so geeky that you manage to work out how to do it. My husband couldn't get it to work either, so I don't think its me. However, if anybody has any ideas on how to get the sound to work apart from going through the media centre, I'd be exceptionally pleased to have them. Don't think its the laptop, cos its only a year old, so fairly new. Any ideas?

As far as I know, the only way to get the sound is by playing them directly from the DVD using Media Player - unless anyone else has managed it?

I think my computer is going wrong, because I can't play the DVD and get sound on the video clips. As I say, the only way I can actually get the sound is by going through the media centre. Might have to get this computer sorted out.

Ah, sorry - I assumed you meant Media Player on the computer, which is how I've got the sound on the video clips. Wouldn't have thought of playing it on a media centre!
