I hate computers but I am constantly amazed by the way you can just type something in and up pops the information you seek.
I'm currently working on my band sampler and am a few entries behind (as usual!). However, I've been playing with my graph paper to set up the entries I want to stitch and felt, of course, that I must include a piece about the Queen's Jubilee. Bearing in mind the design I seek cannot be too large, I thought I might do a bit of written blurb and a nice crown. Searched in my books/magazines and couldn't find one 'fitting'. Then thought 'ah, I'll try the Internet' and just brought up Google and typed in 'The Queen's Crown in cross stitch.' Blow me - within a few seconds I found myself staring at a gorgeous little design - right size - free - from the Cross Stitch Collection magazine. I shall have a furkle with it changing one or two bits - e.g. it's stitched in yellow, so I shall change that to a gold thread and other bits depicting jewels I shall substitute with beads - all to give it a bit more oomph.
If you are ever looking for something yourself that is leading to being a fruitless search just bear the Internet in mind. Mind you, you are probably all brainier than me and are sitting there thinking 'what a plonker, I'd've gone straight on to the web anyway'.
Ah well, the cup of tea is now finished and my ten minute break and playtime is over. The vacuum cleaner is waiting for me downstairs as I'm trying to do the good housewife bit today.
At the NEC on Thursday so may see one or two faces around.
