Just had a wonderful two days in Scotland - was the weather absolutely brilliant or what!!
We set off Thursday morning on the train to Edinburgh, as Geoff wanted to travel the newly opened bit of line that goes out from there to Tweedbank. We saw on the news Wednesday night that the Queen in actual fact had done the same thing that day to officially open the line. She'd had Nicola Sturgeon bumbling away in her ear for her journey but thankfully when Geoff and I did it the next day there was no sign of her!! The Queen had gone home as well.......
What really interested and thrilled me though was that there were billboards at several stations announcing that the Great Tapestry of Scotland was going to be placed as a permanent thing in a building opposite Tweedbank Station - this to be in 2017, so even though I've seen it once a few years ago - in its entirety - in the Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh, I can see I shall simply have to go again to view it when it's installed in its final home. Such an amazing piece of work.
Following that we made our way across to Glasgow and stayed in a hotel there overnight. As I mentioned, the weather was glorious and when we went out for a walk around later in the evening it was just lovely and coming across St. George's Square on our way back to the hotel, it was calm, quiet and still beautifully warm - no wind or anything, I felt I could've walked round that Square all night.
Next day saw me trawling up and down Sauchiehall Street, and browsing round the haberdashery section in John Lewis - I love it in there. Nice for lunch too. Geoff did his own thing for the day and we finally met up at Glasgow Central station and made our way home. What a lovely couple of days.
