Yes, but I don't drink all the sloe gin myself, I share it out among my friends, so watch your knees. What with all the German red and the nice white we bought at the restaurant we should be a very merry bunch on the coach. Poor Malcolm. We'll have to provide him with some liquid refreshment when he's got a day off from driving us.

This trip is sounding more and more like a get together of the local AA chapter than a gathering of stitchers, or maybe I'm wrong? If so we are all well and truely of the wagon and rolling steadily down hill.

I have no idea what you mean Ruth. As you know, we all do all things in moderation, so a very small sherry before we pick up the stitching sounds just the thing to me. And of course, being very responsible stitchers we would never dare imbibe more than our allowance, would we? I only thought that we could offer Malcolm a cup of tea or coffee so that he won't feel left out. (And if you believe that, you'll believe anything!) We just all have a very good time don't we?

Mmmmmm only drink sherry do you ? Remember our trip to Holland ? the lovely evening meal we had at that very nice hotel ? I say no more., I have photgraphic evidence !!!!! also I seem to remember going to the bar with Sue and ordering six glasses of tonic water from the barman and getting a very stange look from him, now what do you think we put in that?

Hi
You are all making me very jealousPosted 13 years ago # -
Wish I was going with you all, but can't spare the days
I remember to wonderful trip to Norway
Does any one remember my delightful husband thinking he could do Hardanger?Posted 13 years ago # -
No Helen, I don't only drink sherry, as you well know, and as for the trip to Holland, remember that I too, have photographic evidence as you were sitting opposite me, and it was you who encouraged us to share the extra one. And yes, I remember the barman giving us some very strange looks when we ordered six glasses of tonic water. Anyway, we can resue this discussion over a diet coke or something when we see each other. See you on the coach!!

Hi Barbara
Think you've got the wrong Helen - I didn't go to Holland, only done the Norway trip & lots of weekends.Posted 13 years ago # -
Sorry, it was intended for Helen McRobbie, cos she's the one who sat opposite me, with a flower between her teeth, a glass of wine in her hand, and encouraged me to have another drink!!

I didn't know you needed encouragement, Barbara.
Posted 13 years ago # -
Of course I need encouragement! You don't think I enjoy it do you?
Posted 13 years ago # -
Well, you certainly give a good impression of someone who does. Which stage school did you attend?

You're all making me sound like an alcoholic!!!, and I'm not! I am now officially terminating all written conversations regarding me, drinking and our forthcoming holiday. If you don't want me to bring any sloe gin with me, I won't do so, but I ought to mention that the stuff we might be drinking on holiday was made about four or five years ago, because I don't drink it at home, and consequently, I've got quite a bit left from the last time I made it. Let me know if you want any, Sue!

Ah, there there. Don't you fret, Barb,if you're an alcoholic, we all are. None of us are all that innocent. Well, it's nice to let our hair down and have fun. Just because our passeports say that we don't need our parents' consent to get married does not mean we have to be dull. Do you remember after we had been to dinner with the folks from V&H and stood by the road waiting for Malcolm and the coach? A little girl on a bike stopped and looked around curiously. I asked her if she wanted to get past. No, she said I only came to see why so many old ladies were standing about and laughing so much. Out of the mouths of babes, eh?

I have the picture to prove it Brigitte. I just intend to have a lot of fun, as usual, on the holiday, I'll be with my friends, and best of all, I'll be away from the hell hole that people call Frenchay Hospital, and more notably, the Plastic Surgery Theatre unit! It's getting nearer - only 7 weeks to go now.

I wish these 7 or so weeks would fly a little bit faster, work here is also a bit of a b......?!* at the moment, roll on the 30th April it can't come round fast enough. I most definately intend to get well pickled on this trip, so bring on the sloe gin, red wine and beer, and hears to happy days and a happy holiday. No photo's if you catch me napping on the coach.

Meaney!!! The way things are going we'll all be fast a bye byes on the coach, cos we'll be worn out with what we're doing before the holiday. I haven't stopped today, and then they asked me to stay on beyond my time, because we had no staff. My answer to that was a definite NO! I really need this holiday!

OK if you must take photo's of a smooshed up face, please try and capture my good side. I too will be doing alot of sleeping the first day or so just to recharge the old batteries and then look out world.

Thank goodness I've had a day off today, so I've been very active, planting onions on the allotment and getting fit in the gym. Tomorrow its back to work, so by the time I get home tomorrow, my good mood will probably have disappeared. The only thing thats keeping me going is the thought of the holiday!
