Yes please Barbara I don't remember the optics, I thought that it was intravenous drips that were needed so we could do both at the same time! Its the first time I've heard the end of the gay tortoise story usually because I'm either laughing or crying or doing both at the same time. I still have the photo from Holland and can post it if you wish, and I seem to remember there was a lot of chocolate on the table as well.
I think I am going to have a problem with packing on this trip (I always do).
I'd like to see Reiner in a pair of lederhosen - I wonder if he's got a pair?

  2. It's a pity that we don't have a picture gallery. Seeing your message Sue I checked through my Holland photographs and found a lovely one of Barbara with a glass in her hand, a big smile on her face and a row of bottles in front of her. It reminded me of what a great time we had there. Roll on Germany. Not long now. Sally

  3. A picture gallery would be great. I have a photo of a certain cross stitch member (mentioning no names Sue) who had more of the chocolate on her face than on the table. It was a scrummy hot chocolate fudge sauce and I think it went down very well indeed !
An intravenous drip of Barbara`s sloe gin would go down very well, good idea Sue. I think I will starve myself for the next few weeks in readiness for all the lovely food waiting for us in Germany YUMMY

If I can hunt through the computers memory, I'll try and find the list of things that we decided would be on a custom built stitchers coach - I know it included foot massagers, cash machine, shop and the afore mentioned optics. However, there seem to be a lot of photos around that are of me, complete with everybodies (and I do mean everybodies) glasses and bottles in front of me! I do retain the right to hunt though my photos and retaliate big time! I might have to bring an IV drip with me, full of sloe gin - I'm sure I can rig one up somehow. That might be something I need at work. I can just imagine it, stood at the operating table, handing instruments whilst hooked up to a drip of sloe gin - yep, sounds good to me!!

  5. You're right of course Barbara. I did say bottles,but I didn't say whose.

That was my heaven Helen, chocolate and wine combined! I must say a word to Doris, who is probably wondering if we have all escaped from the asylum! We are normal people really, but something seems to happen when we all meet up and we seem to spark off one another. It must be in the air.
On the subject of photos I have one of a certain person(Helen) by the Eiffel tower in Paris, doing an impression of a statue. I seem to remember a photo of Barbara in one edition of Jane's magazine with wine glass in hand, I think it was one of yours Sally. Six weeks on Saturday and counting down.

blimey 6 weeks! Is that all you've got left to wait?
One of the reasons I didn't book on the Germany trip, because I very nearly did, was because a close friend told me in advance they had picked 1st May as their wedding day....
So your count down to the Germany trip is my count down to fitting into the dress I bought for a wedding! It did fit when I bought it... but, err, well you know how it goes!

Time to implement phase 1 of fitting the dress - avoid cake/biscuits/crisps and nuts...

    6 weeks! oh eck...

Amazing how it always comes round so quickly all of a sudden. Seems ages since I first rang to book my place. And now it's only 6 weeks. I am going to Germany towards the end of this month for a week to see my Mum. It's off to Olympia tomorrow (got your mobile number, Sally H.)and then for what would be a dirty weekend away if DH and I were young enough to be. My dear brother sent me a text message this morning congratulating me on being a mother for 40 years today. Yeah, like a girl needs to be reminded of her age first thing in the morning. Still, when we all get together on the coach we feel like giddy girlies. Better than all the antiwrinkle creams in the world.

You are right Brigitte, a good laugh with friends is the best anti wrinkle cream in the world, and when we are let loose without the men in tow, we can all let our hair down and have a good time without the "tut tuts" that you get now and then.

Dead right Sue. I think the reason I love going on holidays with you lot, is because we laugh so much, we get away from all our cares and woes while away, and we can be ourselves without having to worry about what people think about us. I mean, I know you lot all think I'm mad, loud and from whats been written earlier, an alcoholic, but I'm just me, take me as I am. After everything I can't make Olympia, so won't see anybody but hope you all have a lovely time buying everything in sight. Can't wait for the next six weeks to go.

Had a brill day at Olympia. Saw Sally and Flee and Marianne (or Marion? Can't hear how it's spelt) at Jane's stall. Busy as hell. Quite weary now, but got to pack most of bag for the weekend. Glad DH cooked dinner when I got home.

  12. Same from me Brigitte. A lovely day at Olympia. It was great to see you again and it was good to meet you Flee and to put a face to your name. I eventually arrived home at 10.30pm. A long day but worth it. Sally

Hi Doris, Have you started packing your bags yet? Now only 14 days and counting until lift off. Probably less for you as you have your flight over from the US to take into consideration. Do you really know what you have let yourself in for??!! 7 very very full days of laughter (until your sides ache) stitching (until your fingers hurt) and general good old fashioned fun** ahhh can't wait. Oh yes I forgot, you will be arriving amid the mayhem that is a Royal wedding, what joy.

    Hi Ruth,
Packing? Oh, yeah, guess I better do that. Actually, I have my stuff strewn out all over the family room so I can be organized. It won't happen of course because if I were organized, I'd forget something. Now I'm worried about having the right size suitcase. This one looks too small. Ah, yes, the Royal Wedding ... still waiting for my invite. Thought I'd like to teach the Queen Mum how to do tequila shots. Of all the Royals, she's the one I'd like most to meet. I have one full day in London, the 29th (wedding) to go find a book store close by and a nice place to have dinner. I am so longing for a steak and kidney pie. The only thing not covered is where I'm supposed to go to meet y'all and the coach. If any of you sweeties think of anything I should have among my luggage or stitching bag(s)please feel free to tell me. I'm already planning to go on next years holiday.

Hi Doris, I'm exactly the same! I have lists made up of things to take, and I still manage to forget the most vital thing. Anyway, just so long as you bring your passport, money, stitching scissors, glasses (if necessary) and a small sewing kit, you'll be okay. Alright, clothes might be a good thing as well, but they're an optional extra. I'm sure Jane will be in touch with you very soon, to let you know where to meet the coach. Just remember, that when you have your day in London, to enjoy our capital city but its a shame you won't be able to see all the sights because a lot of them will be shut for the wedding. Unfortunately the Paace forgot to send me my invitation either, so I'll have to settle for watching it on the television. See you on the 30th April. Not long to wait now.

  16. I did not receive an invite either,I remember going up to London for his mothers wedding (Charles & Diana) and the crowds ahhhhh so many people. Best bet to watch this one on tv. Ruth & I will be driving to Fairford on the wedding day we are staying overnight in Faiford and getting the coach from there in the morning. I cant wait, I finish work this Thursday for two weeks Hippeeee.
Barbara I think clothes are a necesity not an optional extra, can you imagine a group of naked stitchers, not a pretty sight and poor old Malcolm would have a fright never mind the customs men.Any way see you all very soon.
Love from a very excited Helen x

Hard to believe, we can say 'Next week' already. I do hope we get the proper time schedule soon as I like to know where we are going to be when. DH is driving Margaret and me to Fairford on the Friday for a overnight at The Bull. I shall endeavour not to lock myself out of the room again in the morning, so we should have no problem being outside Pinks Barn on time for the coach.
Has Elisabeth handed in the usual request to her Boss yet?

Yes on second thoughts, clothes are a definite necessity. Will definitely be watching the box for this wedding, in the middle of chucking clothes into case. Brigitte, don't you dare lock yourself out of your room again. And I'm sure Elisabeth put the request in a few months ago, but she'll remind Him again this week if I know our resident vic. Only got three more days to work before the holiday, and I can't wait.
Love from an equally excited Barbara

  19. I like to know where i`m going as well especialy the hotels. I think staying in Fairford the night before sets the holiday off to a good start. I am so bored at work at the moment and workmen have just started digging up the road outside.I think it maybe an early finish for me today before they drive me mad.

Have just come inside for a light lunch after a morning in the sunshine - lovely. If Elizabeth's request form to him upstairs is honoured we are in for some great weather. I think the minimum of clothes will be required to keep cool in. If one runs out of space in the suitcase for all the goodies we intend to bring back - leave the clothes and take home the goodies. Count down now in progress 2 more work days and then relax for 2 whole weeks - bliss. Especially with all the good company to be looked for during the second week, will be nice and relaxed before we set of so look out world I's a commin.
