I cannot leave a comment in Jane's journal because I cannot find the ampersand (? is that how it is spelt?) within the German keyboard on my laptop. I changed it to DE earlier on when I was on Stickcafé, but now the stupid thing won't change back. It is driving me crackers as I have to type in English now thinking German kezboard, or keyboard. I am confused.com at the best of times but this is ridiculous.

Wanted to tell Jane to get off the pond water and get some Schnapps down. That'll sort her out.

I did that already Brigitte, don't think it would have been appreciated!

  3. I commiserate with you Brigitte on use of computers. I am having a frustrating afternoon because of the wretched thing as well!. I've been trying to order three books on the Amazon site and have somehow ordered two of each book (and now having given my card details have paid for the flipping things as well!). A helpful e-mail back from Amazon has told me how to correct my order only I now seem to have ordered another set of books - my account now stands at £62 something!..... Grrr. Oh it's so good to have a forum site to have a moan on. I've now e-mailed Amazon again to cancel the whole lot. Trouble is I really want the books - Cynthia Harrod Eagles - they are just so good and for some reason you never seem to see them in Smiths or what have you.

I might even end up reverting to Barbara's cure-all tonight! (Red wine) to help me with my frustration. I can't afford £62 on books! - it's my holiday spends that will reflect this error if I'm not careful. In desperation - Brenda

  4. Well I'm sure you are all beside yourselves (or not!) wanting to know the next chapter of the Amazon saga. Thankfully a phone call and an extremely patient and helpful lady talked me all through the images I was getting on my computer screen and at last one copy of each book I want has been ordered and paid for. So, my holiday reading is sorted out (as long as they arrive in time, if not I have a standby Audrey Howard on hand).

You may all be thinking 'horrors - surely she's not going to be reading when she could be stitching' and you are right, but I can never bear to be away without a book on hand.

Not long to go now. I did have my packing pile sorted out once but with the continuance of the nice weather I'm now thinking maybe I should have a pair of cropped trousers in the case as well - and - oh, I need different shoes for those.

I'm sure I'm not the only one going through this scenario - now come on girls, own up how many times have you taken things out of the wardrobe for packing and then put them back?

Brenda, you are not the only one. For the very first tour DH packed my things and left naff all space for purchases on tour. So now I pack enough clean knickers and tops to last the week and the rest will have to fit in. No more shoes for every occasion, but shoes for comfort, so knees don't complain. I wished I could use the Susan and Sally method, and dump all worne clothes in the hotel bin to make room for stash, but if I did that I would have nothing to wear for the rest of the summer.

I've made a list, I've checked it twice, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I will change my mind several times between now and next Friday. Its going to be the minimum amount of clothing, leave enough room for goodies, and of course an empty bag so I can fill it with more goodies to bring home, and that will be it. I don't think I will be employing the Susan and Sally method, but if the case becomes too packed, then it might be used for certain items. As for shoes, I never wear any that aren't designed for comfort, and blow what they look like.
