  1. Hello Everyone,

Just a little catch up note for the forum. Haven't been on it lately; other stuff in life has got in the way.

Tomorrow sees the start of Ally Pally so for those of you who are going I woud like to wish you a really happy time. I'm not going this year (if you could see the state of my To Do Box you'd know why!) but I shall be with you in spirit.

I watched Songs of Praise last Sunday evening - not impressed; too much soul singing and gospel singing for me, I like my stuff traditional - BUT it was held in the main hall of Ally Pally so I was able to gaze at the Rose Window and remember the colours of the paint on the walls and when I closed my eyes I could see all the stitching stalls laid out; just great.

Sat and done a bit more of Flowery Mead this afternoon - you could've scraped me up off the floor by the time I finished - so laid back with relaxation was I! And now what! - she (our leader) has only gone and added extra goodies to the collection! (groan) when will I ever get time to do it all - and as for the Hardanger Pocket on the new E-book (see Journal) - just gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Mrs. Greenoff has a lot to answer for - I can see in the Midgley household we are going to be on takeaways for tea every night for the foreseeable future! Keeeeep stitching!

  2. Hi Brenda

I wondered what had happened to you as we hadn't heard from you for a while. Glad to hear that you are OK.I too am unable to go to Ally Pally, but several of the others are. It's rather a long way for me and means too many changes on the train and tube, so I will stay at home and hope that all those who go have a good time.
It's not too long now before the trip to Scotland so I have that to look forward to. Are you going? If you are will see you then.Enjoy all of your stitching.

Off to Ally Pally tomorrow (Saturday) with Fiona. Going to get bag etc. ready a bit later on this evening. What will I come back with this year I wonder? I must NOT buy any more Christmas stuff, unless it is absolutely fantastic of course!! Last year I came back with a lovely snowmen design complete with a "sledge" frame. I did it for last Christmas too and it did look good. Any one bought any good things this time?

I had an absolutely brilliant day yesterday. Even the motorway was kind to me. I felt it was a very well balanced exhibition for a change. Something for everybody. I tell you I was very tempted to 'shoplift'. In the West Hall is a Japanese girl with a very small exhibit of knitted and one crochet cardigan. Well, the one crochet cardigan did it for me. I could have run off with it. And I don't very often rave about clothing. Although I had only 9 DMC colours on my shopping list, my rucker was full and heavy and I was a few pounds lighter yet again. How does that happen?????

  6. Hello Sally - what a shame you have such a horrible journey to get to Ally Pally - but at least you've got Scotland to look forward to. Unfortunately I'm not going to that.

Sounds like Brigitte had a good day yesterday. At least she uses a rucksack and not one of these pull-along trolleys, they can cause such painful injuries if you get whacked on the ankle.

I hope Jane is having a good time and hasn't been bothered by any 'light fingered' fiends this time - well done to all the girls who stepped in and stitched like fury to get another Flower Sampler book together in time.

Hope you are all watching Strictly tonight - I absolutely must watch it to see if Russell Grant is on. His face as he cha-cha'd last weekend was a picture - I was in tucks laughing at him.

Yes, I had an absolutely brilliant day on Thursday. I thought it was a very well balanced show this year. Something for every type of crafter.
My first stop was, as always, the Jane's CSG stand. All her displays are on those biro chanes and the rest is in a display stellage behind chicken wire. Although I only had 9 DMC numbers on my shopping list, my little rucker was full and heavy yet again, but I was a few 'pounds' lighter. The night before we had storms and rain, yet on Ally Pally day the sun came out so even the drive there and back was a pleasure. Roll on Olymnpia now.

Glad to hear that you all had a good time at Ally Pally (Those of you who went). Unfortunately(?) I was on holiday but as I shall be catching the bus to Scotland with Jane and Bill in November, perhaps it was a good thing I missed it. Hope that Jane didn't suffer any light fingered nastiness at the show this time. Incidentally Brigitte, where's Olymnpia? Haven't been able to find it on the map (just joking)

After missing the last two years at Ally Pally and this years Olympia, as well as Scotland, all due to my love affair with the Royal Free, I'm determined to make atleast one of them next year. I'm still being held captive but might make a break for freedom at the weekend. At least Flowery Mead is getting plenty of attention (and admiration from others) while I'm here. Love Alison xxx

Glad to hear that you are making progress. I was just aiming for the parking space when Jamie read out a request from some Barbara from Bristol to cheer up somebody called Alison. Ahemm, I thought, they must belong to this crazy gang.

Guilty as charged I'm afraid. I knew that Alison felt depressed, so I thought I'd ty and get her a piece of music played to try and make her feel better. Glad somebody else heard it.
