I am sorry - I am not aware of any such charities - You could make cards for the local church or school- they alwsys need fund raisers.

I cross stitch squares for a charity that turns them in to blankets that you or anyone else might like to help.

They also need knitted items too and donations off threads, fabric, etc, are always welcome.

For more information on the charity please see the link below:

    Thanks.

Thanks Lizzie, I was quite interested by this - I have tried the link and a page comes up but I can't get any further to find out more information. Nothing happens when I click on - 'come and join us'. Maybe Im just having a funny turn, but I can't get no further than the first page. Sorry to be a pain.

I've found this one on the internet. Not done any work for them yet, but will as soon as i've finished what i'm stitching at the moment.

I've had a look at the Stitch for Charity site and the 'come and join us' isn't actually a link. It's a bit misleading because the phrase is in blue and underlined. All the proper links appear on the left hand side of the screen.

    Hi Cecilia

I must be so stupid - Ive gone to the site again BUT the only link on the left had side when I go in is to make a financial donation - I still can't get onto the Stitch For Charity site. Sorry to be so stupid.

I can get into the other site that is mentioned, the quilts one though.

    Hi Flee

Apart from the 'Make a financial donation' button, can you see a list of words above that such as 'Home' 'FAQ' 'Site blog' 'Forum' 'Freebie links' 'Calendar' 'Chat' 'Finances' 'Free charts' 'Photos'?

Each word in the list is actually a link. If you click on each word it should take you to that particular part of the site. (it works on my computer anyway. Give it a try.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Hi Flee and Cecilia

On my computer I get the same as Cecilia - there are no words such as you describe, Flee, and no links whatsoever on the page :(

There is a wonderful small charity called Comfort Quilts for Kids that I stitch for. They make quilts on a special theme chosen by the child---each stitcher does one or more squares, from a pattern that will be sent to you (along with materials if you need them). These quilts are for individual kids who are terminally ill, and not only do they give the kids a lift, but if the worst happens they are a cherished keepsake for the family as well.

The lady who runs it is Jacci Vance, she's a real gem and would LOVE to have more stitchers! Have a look on the site and then do please contact Jacci and lend a hand!
