Has anyone bought any cross-stitch stuff from e-bay and what was the result? There seem to be some good bargains on DMC and Anchor threads but a bad experience with a piece of linen has put me off-I got a good sized piece to do a sampler on and as with all my fabric I stitch a border around it first, but having done this my eagle-eyed partner said "that's not straight". We had a look and counted all my stitches and the fabric was warped, it would never have been straight in a million years. Has this happened to anyone?

Is your husband an engineer by any chance? Although I have not purchased 'wonky' material, when I finally have managed to assemble a stitched effort into a passepartout card, DH pipes up: 'You could at least have tried and put it in straight.' When I count to the edge it is only one linen thread out. Glad see to man blind it to sping to mind.

    Hello,
Yes I recently bid and bought a cross stitch design and when it arrived it was a very poor photocopy although this was not mentioned in the auction, so beware and ask questions before you bid.

This is not the first time that I have heard that kits are poor quality copies. I would not buy kits on ebay.

It's not always true that kits on e-bay include poor quality copies.

I design and make my own kits which I sell on e-bay. They are all individually printed - not photocopies.

Margarita, the rotten apples make life a misery for hard working people like you. Good luck with your patterns.

I buy cross stitch cover kits from there a lot and got some really good bargains. I'm currently bidding on 15 of them...

As long as you read the info (a lot of the time they don't have a chart so you need to look out for that) there's not usually a problem.

Fabric wise, can I suggest http://theneedlecraftshop.co.uk/
They have ridiculously cheap fabric, I've just bought a load, only cost me £10. And did I mention the free postage no matter what you buy? I like my bargains... xD

    Thread... no idea.
