We never paid last year and Ray took the car out on the Saturday. Let's hope this charge isn't a new thing. Alison xxx

When we have been to other Hilton Hotels (Swindon, Oxford and Newbury) there has been a charge quoted but we have either had "get out of jail free tokens" or the barriers have been up when we left on Sunday. Not sure about what will happen if leaving on Monday morning.

  6. Christine that means it's now 5 weeks today - can't wait
Does any one know if Pat Garrett & Anne Wiggins are going?

Going on my Explorer Scout AGM weekend in a few hours. Staying at an old railway station in Kettleness, near Whitby. Going to see if we can find Dracula tomorrow

Is every one hibernating or is it post Olympic blues? You've all gone very quiet recently

It could be hiberating not post Olympic blues for me followed a couple of sports that I am interested but that was all. We had to atend a family funeral in North Devon at the beginning of the week so was no where near a computer to keep in touch.
Looking forward to Leicester hopefully 5 weeks today will be well on the way on train.

Didn't realise I'd got so much to look forward to, in such a short space of time. Ally Pally, Leicester and then Janes stitching day at Pinks in December. That means that Christmas is less than three months away. Oh goodness!! HELP!!!!

Got a shock yesterday when I was informed I couldn't have the time off for the weekend. However, I'm definitely going to Leicester, and I'll just have to wait and see how things work out jobwise. I wouldn't mind, I only work two days a week, and there are three other days for her to choose from. Why do some people have to have such closed minds?

  12. You tell her Barbara - is her name Angela Merkel? Definitely see you at Leicester

Is she bloody minded or just awkward? If you had already requested the time off when you booked this does seem unfair unless there was some major emergency which it can't be this far ahead. Good luck and see you at Leicester!!

She just doesn't like the idea of anybody else enjoying themselves I think. I'd requested the time off before I went off sick, then the request book went missing, so everybody had to put their requests in again, but as I wasn't there, it was a bit unfortunate, and also she and I don't get on, since I was her boss until I retired, and she got promoted! Hence the problems I've been having. Never mind, I will see you all at Leicester.

If only I'd known! I saw these little voodoo dolls in Haiti dressed as various professions (I've already got the teacher one, but that's another story!) I could have picked up a nurse one for you to use! We'll have to get the plasticine out again! Home tomorrow then it's not long till Leicester. Xxx

To the tune of "One man went to mow"...

    Fifteen sleeps to go
    Fifteen sleeps to go-o.
    Only fifteen sleeps to go.
    'Til we go to Leicester!

OK, so it doesn't rhyme, but it's the best I can do on the spur of the moment!

It rhymed in my head Christine :-)

Finished sewing up my Cardy. But now I'm tempted to knit a hat and gloves with the leftover wool. More things for me to start and not finish.
I'm just pleased that I've got my cardy finished in time for Autumn. I started it in Feb/Mar.

Just to let Brenda know that I've got her shopping, so dig out the purse, let the moths have a bit of freedom, and I'll covertly hand it over when we see each other at Leicester. That sounds extremely rude and secretive, but I assure you its really simple. Only 11 sleeps to go.

  19. Oh Barbara - what a darling you are; thank you so much. I see I also have to let the moths have some freedom - er - how comes you know me so well - Miser Midgley!! - doesn't like to let go of the pennies.

Really - only 11 sleeps more, it's fast going down now!. I can recall back in the early days and we were all cheering away about Leicester and Janet Nicholl made comment about not wishing our life away and we still had the summer in front of us! Er - got that a bit wrong Janet didn't you; unless you've had a bit of summer that we didn't get in Crewe.

Oooh so looking forward to seeing you all - but isn't it lovely in the meantime that we can have these little bits of banter going on to keep us all in touch.

Love to all and see you soon - Brenda X

    Hi Brenda
Yes love logging on and keeping in touch.

Have found a way to get to Leicester without going across London. The very unhelpfull lady at the station must have been having a really bad day when I went before. Went last week and she did lots of searching on her computer and even printed me out a journey plan!!!!! I didn't tell her I had already researched that bit and all I needed was confirmation of the cost.

Anyway Fiona and I are coming via Reading and Birmingham New Street. Fiona (Dunbar) did send me you e-mail address so if it's OK may contact you direct to chat. Will give you my e-mail address at Leicester if I don't contact you before.

My daughter has been warned that if she has the baby over this weekend I will not get there until Monday. Am going to leave a bag packed at home ready to go to Stockton-on-Tees if necessay my husband will pick me up from Leicester on the way north.

    See you all there.
