Well, it's Tuesday and I'm only just coming back down to earth. Didn't we have such a lovely time in Leicester. Lots of fun and wonderful food. Some of the discussions cannot be repeated in print but how can the subject of Ladies magazines give rise to such frivolity? You'll have to come and join us for a weekend if you want to find out!
A few of us stayed over Sunday night as well and it wasn't until we were having Sunday lunch that they told us we were included for the evening dinner. We looked at each other and didn't know whether to be pleased or dismayed. The food was absolutely lovely and we had made complete pigs of ourselves all weekend - so how on earth could we demolish yet more? Maybe they thought we would politely say 'no thank you'. Well, they go that wrong. Cross stitching ladies will always rise to a challenge, so we presented ourselves later on and were guided to a round table to take all of us together. We really appreciated the thoughtfulness of that. We sat down - the Magnificent Seven - and picked up our guns - sorry - knives and forks, and got ready for the battle. How on earth - after a three course lunch - did I manage even so to polish off King Prawns in batter with a sweet chilli sauce, Vegetable Lasagne with garlic bread and side salad, followed with a heavenly chocolate fudge cake with a bit of Strawberry Shortcake on the side and then sip my way through a glass of wine afterwards when we all trundled into the Reception area and sat talking (and hadn't we done enough of that as well through the weekend!) By 9.30 I was absolutely zonked out as my poor digestive system struggled its way through the mountain of food I'd shoved down my throat all weekend. I now just want to know one thing - did someone put me to bed that night? I sure as hell can't remember getting there under my own steam.
Thank you Jane - I think you can call the weekend a success. Roll on the next one. Brenda
