  1. Far be it from me to brag..... (oh well, all right then you all know me better than that) - yay! I'm bragging to the world!.. finished another UFO this afternoon. Arm waving all over the place! This is the project we were given at Swindon.

I wasn't too keen on the grapes so didn't do those. I'm not greatly into fruit and veg as stitched subjects (with the exception of strawberries which of course we all love) - but personally I'd far rather stitch floral items, mainly because if you prefer a flower in yellow rather than say the pink you are given - well then, a flower will happily change colour. With fruit however you are stuck with what nature says it is - how often do you see a blue apple for instance? So, for me, the grapes didn't hit the spot.

What did hit the spot though was the wonderful Gloriana thread that Jane gave us - what wizard colours all in just one thread (I've definitely got it on my list to purchase a skein of it when I get to Ally Pally). We were given two lengths if you remember and advised to use 3 threads at a time - so that was 4 lots for stitching with. Mine did an enormous amount and although I ran out before I got to the end, I just needed some to do some interweaving of the kloster block heart on the front. By chance I had some Stef Francis silk in my box which was an orangey type mix and it just fitted the bill to complete that.

Top and bottom of it is that I am now using it as a fold up bag in which to house my little collection of counting pins. It means they are all secured together so look pretty and won't get lost. Chuffed or wot!

Ah well - it's wonderful to be brilliant.

If only I was so brilliant with these wretched computers as well though! I went onto the Twisted Thread website the day before yesterday to get my Ally Pally tickets and workshop booking sorted out only to get right to the end and have my Visa debit card refused!! Big panic there for a minute I can tell you as I knew there should be plenty of money in my account. I swiftly exited from Twisted Thread and went onto my banking website imagining - horror of horrors - that someone had plundered my account and the cupboard was bare...., but no, all was safely intact. Phew, but I just thought that's enough for today so turned the whole thing off and went back downstairs for a cup of tea. Tried again yesterday and no trouble at all. I don't understand it. My Geoff just said 'oh women and technology - you're all rubbish at it' I stared at him, wondering what would hurt the most when I aimed something at him.... he's obviously forgotten that he was recently having a nervous breakdown when trying to put an office chair 'together' that to him was proving difficult. I stepped in with my two pennorth and we had it sorted it in 10 seconds. It was also me who knew what to do with the ballcock in the downstairs loo yesterday when it suddenly decided to let water run like made out of the overflow pipe to outside - while HE stood there looking gormless!

So maybe the point of this story is 'Women and technology; but men and 'just about everything else!'

I'm rising above it - I'm going back to open and close my little counting pin bag again and let satisfaction wash over me. Love to all, Brenda

  2. HI Brenda,

Well done, look forward to seeing it on Bring & Brag at Leicester.
I remember your comments about the grapes at Leeds!!

It's not just you & computers, my Mick is hopeless with them - he's the practical one that can fix things.
