I recently purchased a kit in Brugge from a shop I know well! It contained metallic thread amongst others. As the instructions said to use two strands I did this but it was horrific, the thread was like stitching with wire. So onto the phone to Jane I got and she sent me Madiera thread, what a change. I also put a single knot at the eye to hold it whilst stitching. So I hope this helps anyone else who is having problems with metallic thread.

PS. you should always read your posts properly, the knot goes on the thread which is at the eye of the needle.

Just goes to show that the instructions don't have be followed to the letter. I often adjust colours or threads to suit. After all, we don't hang the instructions next to the finished project for viewers to pick out 'faults'.
