Morning everyone, just to say that unfortunately, I won't be joining you all at Leeds. I decided that as I don't know how I'm going to react to tomorrow's first dose of chemo it was a bit foolish to attempt such a long trip so soon afterwards. I'll miss you all a great deal, but I know you'll have a great time and I look forward to seeing people later in the year, especially those on the trip to Germany (determined to be on that!).
All my love, J xxxx

Good luck with the treatment Jane. Hope you are feeling better and back in circulation soon!! Not going to Leeds too far for a weekend for me. Pension fund does not run to German trip unfortunately. Going to Pinks on Sept 6th perhaps we might meet there. Leicester is a bit near Grandson's 2nd birthday when we will be travelling to Stockton on Tees.

I wished I were going to Leeds. On first leg to some village near Truro tomorrow for younger step-daughter's wedding on Saturday. Don't ask why at the end of the world. The truth is stranger than fiction. Only consolation on way home I am having another visit to American Museum in Bath. If I survive the next four days you will read all about it here.

I will be on duty at the Marlow Rifle Club Friday evening, purchasing ingredients and prepping fruit salad for 75 on Saturday for the High Wycombe Bee Keepers BBQ lunch on Sunday and relaxing at the BBQ lunch on Sunday - busy busy.
Will be thinking of you all having a great time stitching and socialising!!
So sorry to miss you Rita.
Friday 27th June travelling north to compete in the Scottish Small-Bore Rifle Championships in the grounds of Thirlestane Castle Lauder. We have booked a self cater cottage - The Clock House Cottage in the courtyard at Mellerstain House. Those who were on the CSG trip to Scotland will remember our wonderful trip round the house in 2011.Posted 10 years ago # -
Thank you, Fiona, (and everone!) for your love and thoughts. I'm sorry I won't be at Leeds either, but it's just as well as I'm struggling a bit at the moment. Last weekend was a bit grim, but I'm a little better now, just no energy and absolutely no brains for making even the simplest decisions. Soooo frustrating! Still, things could have been a lot worse for me in comparison to others I've met,so onwards and hopefully upwards. All my love, J xxx

I'm not there either! Jane: if you want to chat and need support, I've been there and happy to help. I don't suppose you live near me, but we could talk on the phone. I've a pretty good idea how you're feeling and what you're going through, do do get in touch. Xxx

Bless you, Rachel, that's very kind of you. Thankfully, I've felt better today, with enough energy to potter about a bit - hurrah! I'm also lucky that so far, eating hasn't been a problem as the anti-nausea tablets did their stuff last week :-) Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital is a specialist centre attatched to Hammersmith Hospital and the first person I saw the day I arrived in advance of my surgery was Linda, a Macmillan nurse. She's been brilliant, both while I was going through surgery and now, when I'm under the Oncology department next door in Hammersmith Hosp. When she missed me on my first chemo day, she phoned me at home a couple of days later to check on how I was getting on and if I had anything I needed to ask. So far, the NHS has provided exemplary care - even my local hospital (NOT my favourite by any stretch of the imagination) worked like clockwork last Sunday when I needed immediate attention from A&E for bloodtests to make sure I wasn't suffering from an infection.
All in all, I've been very lucky: successful surgery, meaning I'm tumour-free, so the chemo is just a "moping-up" operation. I can cope with the temporary annoyance of the sideffects so: Cancer, you're rubbish, and you've picked the wrong person to deal with!Posted 10 years ago # -
Right guys, that's enough! I'll stop hijacking threads to talk about me. Hope you're all having a great time in Leeds and can't wait to see the project.
