Well now it's actually DECEMBER so we can say that it's Christmas this month, and New Year next month.

I'm 4 chocolates into my advent calendar.
It was twilight-esque when I set off for work this morning.
Pitch black when I leave the office in the evening.
Christmas cards are in the post.
I had my first glass of mulled wine on Sunday.
And got the Christmas tree out of my storage unit in the high winds.
    Office Christmas trees are up.
Heard the Pogues Fairy tale of New York on the radio yesterday.
First Christmas party of the season tonight!

So, yep we are in the season to be jolly...fah-la-la la-lah..

I guess twilight covers both ends of the day.

These dark days 3 year old grandson keeps asking "is it night?" At the moment he is very excited as we are preparing to bring in the Christmas tree. I have Christmas music on CD player and he is dancing around like a mad thing!!!

  6. I just say 'bloody dark' - covers both ends of the day for me......

I sympathise though Andrea. I can distinctly recall being at work through the winter thinking you only see your home in daylight at the weekends and had several chums at work who didn't even bother to draw the curtains back from Monday to Friday!

21st will soon be here and although there doesn't seem any difference to start with it's a psychological boost I always think to know that it's going to start getting lighter.....

Of course if you get heavy snow it seems even lighter....(perish the thought though, who wants that!!)

    It all depends:-

The Winter Solstice is on 22nd December this year, which basically means that the daylight hours will be increasing from that date.

However, the earliest time for sunset will be in the middle of next week (before the Solstice), whereas the sunrise will continue to be later each day until early January (after the Solstice).

Either way, it feels like a heck of a long time to Swindon....

I don't blame the little lad for getting confused - it's so dark and dreary all day at the moment.
